Luca Locatelli (born 1971) is a multi-award winning Italian photographer and multimedia storyteller focused on exploring solutions for the environment and the future. He produces his stories in collaboration with editors, journalists, environmentalists and scientists in order to further contextualize his research. Locatelli is a frequent contributor to international medias such as National Geographic Magazine, TIME, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Times, GEO and Bloomberg, among others.
Life and work

Luca Locatelli was born in 1971 in Pavia, Italy. He started photography in 2006 after a 10 years career as a computer scientist and software developer.
Deeply rooted in documentary and journalistic production, his work revolves around the "making" of the future. From 2011, his main research has been to explore and document the most promising solutions to confront the critical environmental issues of the 21st century. The aim of his work is to contribute to an open discussion about our future on the planet.
Locatelli works have been exhibited and featured in various venues including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, SCoP Shanghai Center of Photography, Somerset House, Les Rencontres d'Arles, Visa pour l'Image, Noorderlicht International Photography Festival, Getxphoto International Image Festival, Cortona On The Move.
In 2020 Locatelli has been honoured with the World Press Photo award (Environment Category) and the Leica Oscar Barnack Award.
